Letter to the Editor, printed April 8 in Driftwood
Danielle Smith, Alberta’s conservative premier, has a special relationship with Donald Trump. She also has a strong desire that Pierre Poilievre, federal conservative leader, wins the election. The Trump, Smith and Poilievre team. Trump mislead the Americans in his election campaign. He is raising the cost of living while gutting government services, protections and civil rights.
Is it beyond anyone’s imagination that Poilievre with a majority government will assist Trump in any way possible? I would not be surprised if Trump and Poilievre would want Canada not as the 51st state but as a United States territory. That way Canada would not have any congress members or senators. Trump would not take a chance that we would elect anyone other than his obedient Republicans.
In Saanich-Gulf Islands, we have basically a two party contest to be our Member of Parliament….Conservative Cathie Ounsted, a Poilievre supporter, or Elizabeth May who has demonstrated daily that she is a consensus builder and a fighter for democracy. Elizabeth May will always protect Canada.
To prove my point, I went to both Ounsted’s and Elizabeth May’s. campaign websites. Ounsted says not one single word about her ideas or her party’s platform. May clearly details her ideas and platform.
I want to maintain Canadian values and dignity, I am voting to re-elect Elizabeth May.
